LinkedIn substitutes those things, and more. As long as you’re building an effective profile on LinkedIn, you’ll find it doesn’t take much effort on your part to accomplish what you set out to do. You’ll be allowing the jobs to come to you, and all you need to do is stay current.

Optimize Your Profile for Search Terms

If someone is looking to hire, they’re going to search for candidates. Do you know where you rank on LinkedIn? If you’re familiar with SEO, or search engine optimization, you understand the correlation between the right keywords and where you rank. The key is to understand how many different ways people will search for the same thing, and what qualifications work best together. Recruiters tend to use these to make their lives a little easier, and you’re guaranteed to be spotted by valuable contacts. Networking in these groups is a great way to draw people to your profile. Make an effort to get noticed by these recruiters, such as following their profile, reading their posts, and leaving relevant comments. Once you’ve had a few interactions with recruiters within these groups, message them if they haven’t yet messaged you.

Publish Content Through LinkedIn

Relevant essays, help pieces, and expert bits of advice are testimonials to your knowledge. Using LinkedIn to publish these will lead recruiters to a better sense of your experience. Blogging is a wonderful tool to establish yourself as a leader or an expert, and doing your blogging directly through LinkedIn will make your ideas hard to miss. Establish yourself as a credible authority. Everyone would rather hire a guru within the niche than someone that will need extensive training.
